Storage Information

Store peginterferon alfa-2a under refrigeration, but be careful not to let it freeze. Make sure to let the medication come to room temperature for 20 minutes before injecting to help minimize pain. If peginterferon alfa-2a has been out of the refrigerator for more than 24 hours, it should be discarded.

Peginterferon alfa-2a comes in the following strengths and forms:
  • Peginterferon alfa-2a 180 mg per mL vials
  • Peginterferon alfa-2a 180 mg per 0.5 mL prefilled syringes
  • Peginterferon alfa-2a 135 mg per 0.5 mL autoinjectors
  • Peginterferon alfa-2a 180 mg per 0.5 mL autoinjectors.
The prefilled syringes and the autoinjectors come with needles. The vials do not come with needles or syringes; they must be purchased separately.
