Brand Name for Sofosbuvir

Healthcare providers may prescribe sofosbuvir (Sovaldi™) to treat chronic hepatitis C infections in adults. At this time, there are no generic versions of sofosbuvir; it is only available as the brand-name product Sovaldi. Currently, Sovaldi is protected by patents that prevent any generic versions from being sold in the United States. Although sofosbuvir is sometimes referred to as the "generic name" for Sovaldi, it is simply the active ingredient in the medication and not a generic version of it.

Sovaldi is made by Gilead Sciences, Inc. It is available in one form and strength (400-mg tablets). This medicine is taken once daily for 12 to 48 weeks, depending on the type of hepatitis C virus you have, other medications you are taking, and other factors.
