Hepatitis C and Telaprevir

If you have
hepatitis C, your healthcare provider may prescribe telaprevir (INCIVEK™). Specifically, this medicine is used to treat genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C in adults. It comes in tablet form and is only approved for use in combination with other hepatitis C medications.

Telaprevir works to treat hepatitis C by blocking the activity of certain enzymes in the body that are needed by the hepatitis C virus to reproduce. As a result, this drug prevents the hepatitis C virus from multiplying.
