Telaprevir (INCIVEK®) is a type of protease inhibitor prescribed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C infections in adults. This medicine works by blocking the action of certain enzymes in the body known as proteases, which are needed by the hepatitis C virus to multiply. It comes in the form of a tablet and is taken 3 times a day for 12 weeks. This product is only approved for use in combination with other hepatitis C medications; it should not be used alone.
